Key Information

To strengthen the learning environment and labor market alignment of priority programs at beneficiary higher education institutions and improve the management of the higher education system. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Strengthening the Learning Environments and Labor Market Alignment of Priority Programs, has the following sub-components: (i) Expanding capacity of existing public universities to offer quality priority programs; and (ii) Promoting excellence in development of human resources of underserved areas in the Lake Zone and neighboring regions, and Zanzibar. 2) The second component, Strengthening the Management of the Higher Education System, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthening the capacity of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) and its subsidiary agencies; and (ii) Promoting quality improvements in select non-university higher education institutions and promoting public private partnerships in the delivery of programs in priority areas. 3) The third component, Project Coordination and Management, will serve to build capacity within the MoEST to manage the day-to-day implementation and coordination of the HEET project, as well as monitor and evaluate its impact.
