Key Information

Women’s Global Education Project has adapted our programs to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in the communities where we work. Our teams in Kenya, Senegal, and the U.S. have worked remotely from mid-March to November 2020, and worked hard to provide resources in order to keep our communities safe and healthy, and to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to continue her education amid school closures.

This included:

  • Remote learning supply distribution to adolescent girls, including battery-powered radios and solar lanterns
  • Locally-produced food to combat food insecuity and market closures
  • Distributing soap, face masks, and community handwashing stations in heavily trafficked areas
  • Radio programs to educate rural community members on the COVID-19 virus
