Key Information

The Rwanda Education Sector Programme Implementation Grant (RESPIG) will Strengthen continuous professional development and management of teachers; Enhance quality learning outcomes relevant to Rwanda’s socioeconomic development; Strengthen Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics to increase the relevance of education for urban and rural markets; and Modernize school infrastructure and facilities in basic education institutions. The programme unpacks the orientation of the policy targets as documented in the Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP 2018-2023). The move towards a knowledge-based economy, as outlined in Rwanda's Vision 2020, has necessitated a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This will require the development of scientific and technological skills across all levels, with a priority to attract more girls into these fields of learning.
