Sindh Education Non-State Actors programme (SENSA)

SENSA has supported over 52,800 of Sindh’s poorest children (particularly girls, who constituted approximately 66% of enrolment) to access primary level education in rural, remote and deprived areas under-served by the government and other non-state education providers. 50,708 of these children successfully completed primary education. SENSA worked in 20 districts of Sindh province, where there are the greatest numbers of out of school children, in communities who would otherwise be marginalised by factors including gender, disability, poverty, nationality and religious minority status. SENSA was a unique contribution to the overall BHC Islamabad portfolio, being one of the few programmes to operate in Sindh. Unlike other programmes in the education portfolio, which work within Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, SENSA focused solely on service delivery rather than broader education system strengthening objectives as a result of the increased challenges to working in this environment.
