Casas de igualdad de oportunidades para las Mujeres (CIOM)

CIOM (Casas de Igualdad de Oportunidades para Mujeres) are dedicated spaces designed to foster peer-to-peer learning and community gatherings for women. These centers were established by the Bogota Women's Office with the goal of empowering women by enhancing their understanding of their rights and encouraging their active engagement in social and political roles within their communities. The CIOM events are designed to ensure that women are well-informed and have access to the specific provisions outlined in the Public Policy on Women and Gender Equity. This approach guarantees that women have a dedicated forum to seek guidance and ask questions about how to navigate the resources made available by the Policy, which are intended to benefit both rural and urban women residing in Bogotá, Colombia. Within these spaces, women have access to a wide range of activities and services at no cost. They can participate in workshops aimed at challenging gender and sex stereotypes, seek legal advice, access mental health resources, and engage in community dialogues that promote their overall well-being. Furthermore, they can take advantage of self-care workshops, dance classes, gymnastics, yoga sessions, enroll in language courses, participate in film forums, and partake in other activities that provide both learning and entertainment. Lastly, the CIOM plays a crucial role in supporting the growth of civil organizations and grassroots networks, in addition to offering digital training.
